Job Description

MW Partners is currently seeking a Licensing Compliance Consultant to work for our client who is a leader in the media and entertainment industry.

Responsibilities and duties:

Royalty Compliance

  • Review contracts for financial terms and compare them to royalty statements to ensure compliance.
  • Trace financials through a contract's life cycle to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Advise internal teams on correcting entry errors that prevent statement processing.
  • Advise licensees on resubmitting statements that cannot be processed due to errors.
  • Troubleshoot access issues when licensees are unable to access the system.
  • Troubleshoot inquiries from Finance and offshore royalty reporting teams.
  • Complete ad hoc special projects and provide reporting for management as needed.

Cash Collections / Compliance

  • Reach out to licensees (customers) to collect or resolve open AR balances and royalty compliance issues.
  • Maintain collection reason codes to accurately identify the status of open receivables.
  • Monitor cash expected from licenses to ensure timely receipt.
  • Manage internal and external ad hoc requests related to invoice account balances.
  • Serve as the point person for all withholding tax certificates, ensuring they are received and sent to Viacom Tax.
  • Assist the cash application team in resolving unapplied payments.
  • Provide support to the Sales Team and Finance Department as needed.
  • Play an active role during month-end close.

Requirements:

  • B.A. or B.S. in Business or Finance required.
  • Other B.A./B.S. degrees may be considered if the candidate has experience with collections and royalties.
  • 3 5 years of relevant global licensing industry work experience.
  • Experience in operations finance, accounting, and operations management preferred.
  • Strong understanding of General Accounting Principles (royalty accounting is a plus).
  • Strong ability to trace issues to identify root causes and final impacts.
  • Strong ability to understand and interpret contracts.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to provide creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to see the big picture and work on cross-divisional projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to multitask and manage diverse projects and assignments.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as both a leader and a team player.
