Job Summary
The Wig Neuroimaging Lab (directed by Dr. Gagan Wig) at the Center for Vital Longevity, University of Texas at Dallas, is looking for a research assistant to work on a multi-year NIH-funded research project studying brain network risk and resilience in human aging. The mission of the project is to understand the health and lifestyle factors that relate to age-related brain and cognitive decline in middle-age adults at risk of Alzheimer’s disease. This work will be accomplished by collecting functional neuroimaging data and extensive characterization of individual’s changes in cognition, physiological measures of health, and measures of environment and lifestyle over a 4 year period.
The candidate will assist in participant recruitment, data collection and processing of cognitive and brain imaging data. The candidate must be willing to work in a collaborative and inter-disciplinary environment. The study team consists of labs based in the University of Texas at Dallas (Center for Vital Longevity) and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (Department of Psychiatry). Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in one of the basic sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience in customer service or in daily interactions in a public services environment.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a compatible basic sciences field. Candidates with prior experience in human subject data collection, human-facing interaction, and/or a research background are preferred. Competence with Microsoft Office and other basic computer skills is required. Excellent organizational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this position. Knowledge of techniques and protocols needed for experiments is a plus. Experience working with middle- to older-age adults from the community is a plus. Previous experience and interest in brain imaging data (e.g. fMRI, morphometry) and/or cognitive testing is a plus but not necessary. Other Qualifications

The position is available immediately, although the start date is negotiable; the length of the position will be minimum two years with possibility for extension (up to 4 years total). Competitive packages will be provided. Due to the nature of the job responsibilities, candidates should have their own transportation. Job duties will require driving between multiple locations within the DFW region. Position will require some evening and weekend working hours to accommodate participant testing.
